Monolaurin for Immune Defense and Healthy Bacterial Balance
Some patients want a simple, single-ingredient foundation under a digestive or immune protocol. Lauricidin is the one I use for that. The maker describes it as "pure monolaurin, the natural, plant-based medium chain fat derived from the lauric acid in coconut oil."*
Who I Reach For This With
- Patients building a daily immune and digestive foundation with their practitioner
- People working on a microbiome-focused protocol who want a single-ingredient option
- Anyone who prefers a product with no fillers or additives, as Lauricidin states
- Patients who do better starting low and building up slowly
What Makes This Form Different
- Pure sn-1 monolaurin, a single-ingredient supplement with "no fillers or additives," per Lauricidin
- 3,000 mg of monolaurin per teaspoon, measured with the blue scoop that comes in the jar
- Mini-pellets that are swallowed, not chewed: "Take with water like a vitamin"
What Lauricidin Says It Supports*
- Immune defense*
- Regular digestion and reduced bloating*
- Maintaining healthy bacterial balance*
- Healthy yeast levels*
How It Fits Into a Protocol
I often pair Lauricidin with GI-Synergy or Oil of Oregano during the targeted microbiome phase, and keep it going on its own as a maintenance piece afterward. CoreBiotic or Complete Probiotic 25+ CFU usually sit alongside it as the foundational probiotic. RepairVite GT Plus or SE, Ultra Omega-3 and Zinc Plus round out a gut-focused plan. Which of these you need is set individually with your practitioner.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is Lauricidin different from coconut oil?
Coconut oil contains lauric acid. Lauricidin is pure monolaurin made from the lauric acid in coconut oil, at 3,000 mg per teaspoon.
How do I start?
Lauricidin advises starting with a few pellets the first week and building up every few days. Some people notice short-term reactions early on, such as headache or body aches, which Lauricidin describes as normal. Any serious symptoms, such as cardiac irregularity, breathing difficulties, chest, lung or throat constriction, or significant swelling, need immediate medical attention.
Can I chew the pellets?
No. Lauricidin says not to chew the mini-pellets. Swallow them with cool water or juice. It has a natural bitter, soap-like taste, so most people find swallowing easier.
Suggested Use: For ages 12 and up, start with ¼ teaspoon (¼ blue scoop) two to three times daily with food, gradually increasing to 1 full teaspoon two to three times daily. Place in mouth and wash down with cool water or juice. Do not chew the mini-pellets. Or as directed by your healthcare professional. Each jar is 8 oz; choose 1, 3, 12 or 24 jars.
Ships direct from Med-Chem Laboratories, the maker of Lauricidin — never third-party or gray-market stock.
