I’ll admit it—I’ve never been a huge fan of prebiotic supplements. As a practitioner working with many Patients with severe digestive issues, I’ve noticed that when digestion is already out of balance, prebiotics can sometimes make things worse.
It’s not that prebiotics are never beneficial—they absolutely can be. In my experience, they’re best used carefully and temporarily to help rebalance gut flora. If I do recommend prebiotics, I prefer whole food sources or, occasionally, inulin for short-term use.
Here’s the thing: every practitioner has their own unique experiences. We tend to "attract" certain types of clients, so what works for one group might not work for another. That’s why it’s so important to approach gut health on an individual basis.
What about you? Have you tried prebiotics before? Did they work for you, or did they upset your digestion?
Let’s start a conversation about what really works for gut health!
