Melatonin P.R.

A Slow-Release Melatonin for Restful Sleep

Plenty of people fall asleep fine and then lose the night. A prolonged-release tablet is built for that pattern. Douglas says Melatonin P.R. "contains 3 mg of high purity melatonin in a prolonged-release tablet, formulated to slowly break down and release in the small intestine."*

Who I Reach For This With

  • People who want a nightly melatonin option with a slow-release design
  • Patients whose evening routine is already in place and who want one more layer
  • Occasional travelers working with the clock, under practitioner guidance
  • Anyone who has done well with melatonin before and wants a clean 3 mg tablet

What Makes This Form Different

  • 3 mg of melatonin per tablet
  • A prolonged-release tablet, which Douglas says releases slowly in the small intestine*
  • Simple label: dicalcium phosphate, cellulose, silica and vegetable stearate as the other ingredients

What Douglas Laboratories Says It Supports*

  • "Support for restful sleep"*
  • "Promotes the body's natural sleep cycle"*
  • "Helps augment the natural functioning of the pineal gland"*
  • Supports normal immune function*

How It Fits Into a Protocol

Melatonin is one piece of a sleep plan. Morning light, a regular bedtime and a dark room do the groundwork. When we add support, GABA 500 mg (also from Douglas), Gabatone Active or Magnesium Glycinate can fill in the calming side of the evening. Melatonin and your other pieces are chosen to fit you, not stacked by default.
